An Introduction to Chetanalaya Environment Education Centre

Chetanalaya, a not-for-profit organization, has been serving the most marginalized communities in the resettlement colonies of NCT of Delhi and in 5 districts of Haryana for the last 50 years. Chetanalaya works on 12 thematic areas and one of them is the environment protection.

Chetanalaya was one of the pioneers who promoted jute bags a decade ago and the campaign titled 'Green Shoppers' by the then Chief Minister of NCT of Delhi, Smt. Sheila Dixit. As the years passed by, Chetanalaya also enter into other interventions that promoted environment protection such as plastic recycling and paper recycling.

To move towards the sustainable future, we have dedicated one of the centres as 'Chetanalaya Enviornment Education Centre' at Bhaleswa. In this centre, we promote 'recycle paper', organic farming, permaculture, pot-making, fish-farming, Eco-brick Making, Kitchen Waste Compost and so on. The centre is guided by Our Programme Manager, Mrs. Richa Kakkar and Mr. Himanshu Rai is the person-in-charge of the Centre. 4 more green developers are part of this centre.
